new mailing list groups
October 4th, 2018 by

We have been keeping a mailing list for Holiday Cards and that’s all we’ve used it for‚ÄĒuntil yesterday. In the interest of sending you stuff you’re interested in without giving you stuff you don’t want, please feel free to use the following form to either sign up anew or to select the types of emails you’ll get. From this day forward, notices about backup purges and other producer-specific stuff will not be sent to the whole holiday card list, but only to the “producer info” list. We will include a reminder about these groups on our next holiday card. ūüėÄ

data purge
October 3rd, 2018 by

We need to purge some of our archival disk space. If you did a project with us which ended before January 1st, 2017 and you want to make sure you have an archive of the raw, unmixed audio, please contact us before Monday, October 15, 2018 to make arrangements with us. We’ll do The Purge that day.

Not sure if we’ve posted this on here, before, but we should. We have two spec sheets that we email often:

gear for sale
January 14th, 2017 by

This gear is being sold by a friend-of-a-friend (well, friend of many friends, more accurately). We don’t need any of it right now, but perhaps you do: http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/pho/5901147102.html

you could be here
July 22nd, 2016 by

This could be your view at your next mix, except with Tor & Kat in the seats instead of having them empty. And with your movie up on the screen instead of 2 Years 8 Days.

IMG_1627Yeah, that’s right, we now have a dedicated computer for each of our re-recording mixers. We had the idea one day when we were moving the ADR stage from I-25 Studios to Albuquerque Studios for a session out there. The whole ADR rig became portable at the beginning of the most recent season of¬†The Night Shift and we’ve gotten to the point where we can wrap an actor at one location and two hours later be recording an actor across town at the other location. If we could do that, sure we could move the ADR rig on to the mix stage for a two-mixer setup. Right? To quote¬†Apocalypse Now, “absolutely god damned right” we can. The first time it took about 2 hours, and that included a lot of troubleshooting, so we’ll probably have that time down to about an hour pretty soon.

Boo-yah!

A friend just posted something on the facebook which reminded me of this:

Grab a Hunk of Lightning
October 26th, 2015 by

We’ve known David Leach in passing for years, but this is the first project we had the pleasure of working with him and he most assuredly deserves this award. Dyanna Taylor also deserves every bit of attention this film is getting. It is one of those projects we finished some time ago, but which comes back frequently, including some catch-phrases that seem to have permanently¬†entered our work lexicon. If you haven’t seen it yet, you really should, and if you ever have an opportunity to work with David or Dyanna, take it. Or if you’re in the audio post business, tell them they should call us again. ūüėČ

good to be busy…
October 24th, 2015 by

In this past week, we worked with the lovely and talented Todd Marcinkiewicz at 3Bicycles on the new front page you can see here (looking forward to working with him on some more design enhancements we have in mind), walked a bunch of Foley for the film adaptation of Planting Seeds by Thich Naht Hanh,¬†started work on a short documentary about an excellent photographer who lives in New Mexico¬†(not sure we can brag about just how excellent this photographer is, but we will as soon as we’re sure we’re allowed to), recorded voice-over for a commercial being produced in Boston, bid a feature doc that’s really cool (again, we’ll tell more when we can), had a meeting in Santa Fe about another really exciting feature doc project, booked 2 ADR sessions for Monday, and it looks like we’re going to bid a Foley feature job later today…. wow, no wonder we’re tired. We hope you had a productive¬†week, too, and have a restful weekend.

fun with audio

This mix is so much fun. We’re really looking forward to everyone seeing and hearing it all in context, but in the meantime, here’s a little taste of Kat auditioning sounds:¬†CAM02181.3gp
